HIMSWAN (Himachal Pradesh State Wide Area Network) is a state wide network established by Government of Himachal Pradesh in order to modernize the communication infrastructure in the State and create a reliable network for Government to Ciizen (G2C), Government to Employees (G2E), Government to Business (G2B) and Government to Government (G2G) interfaces.
The Project is aimed at providing link to the Government Offices and Community Service Centres at different levels in the state. It will be expandaded in future vertically (down to the Panchayat/Village level) and horizontally (all offices/locations within the same location).
Hewlett Packard India Sales Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded the contract to establish the network and operate the same for a period of five years i.e. up to May 25, 2013.
The Department of Information Technology under Government of Himachal Pradesh is overseeing the whole project.
