Literature
Tripura is known for its rich written and oral literary tradition. With the patronage of the Manikya rulers and influence of Rabindranath Tagore, the Bengali literature of Tripura grew expontentially. On another hand, with increasing literacy rates, Kokborok literature is also making waves in literary scene of Tripura. Kokborok belongs to Tibeto-Burman group, but uses Bengali script for writing.
Some of the prominent literary figures from Tripura are Sankha Subhra Devbarman, Khagesh Dev Burman, Snehamoy Roy Chowdhuri, Nanda Kumar Debbarma, Bodhrai Debbarma, Rabindrakishore Debbarma and Sefali Debbarma.
