Folk Dances of Nagaland
The folk dance along with folk music plays an important role in the culture of Nagaland. Most of these dances are performed in groups, especially performed by men. Again most of these dances are war dances and performed along with loud clapping and chanting of mantras. Each tribe has its own dance ritual and their colourful costumes adds an extra layer of beauty to these dances.

War Dances of Nagaland
As mentioned earlier, most of the Naga dances are war dances. It includes the enactment of mock war scenario and accompanied by loud war cries and thumping, clapping and beating of the instruments. The artists wear metal gear to make the mock war scenario as realistic as possible. The beauty of dance is enhanced by their colourful attire and makeup.

Udoho (Angami War Dance)
Udoho is the war dance of Angami tribe. The literal meaning of Udoho is holding spear and shouting on enemy. It depicts the position of warrior in the village. It is performed solo as well as in the group. Seecha and Kukui Kucho is another dance of Angami tribe.

Modse
Modse is folk dance of Ao tribe. It is known for its costume. Men wear Lantham and a head gear Thunku, which is decorated with hornbill feathers and bamboo. They also wear Shupu and Pampa made up of elephant tusks. Women also participate in this dance and they wear traditional jewelry Sheth made up of cowries.

Zeliang Dance

Zeliang dance is the most recognizable tribal dance of Nagaland. It is performed by men and women of Zeliang tribe. It is also one of the war dances of Nagaland and includes enactment of mock war scenario.
