The Governor of Uttrakhand is the constitutional head of the Indian state of Uttrakhand. He is appointed by the President of India and holds office at the President's pleasure.
The seat was created on 9 November 2000 when Uttrakhand was carved out from Uttar Pradesh.
Surjit Singh Barnala was the first Governor of Uttrakhand (then known as Uttranchal).
Margaret Alva became the
first woman Governor of Uttrakhand. She was in the office from 6 August 2009 to 4 May 2012.
Baby Rani Maurya is the current and seventh Governor of Uttrakhand. She is also the second woman to hold this position.
