The Governor of Assam is the constitutional head of the Indian state of Assam. He is appointed by the President of India for the term of five years and holds office at the President's pleasure, which means he or she can be terminated or their term can be further extended on President's will.
Jagdish Mukhi is the current and 28th Governor of the state, whereas
Lallan Prasad Singh who held the office from 19 September 1973 – 10 August 1981 is the longest serving Governor of Assam.
